Stories, information and comments from Col de la Croix Fry climbers
Story by Jake Bridges from , Belgium, submitted on 30/05/2014
Did this in July 2013 as part of a ride doing the route of stage 19 of the 2013 tdf. I was pretty tired when arriving at the foot of the climb having already tackled the Glandon, the Madelaine and done 190km so was taking it quite easy. This is a cracking climb up through a stunning valley that is hidden away from the main roads and offers amazing views through the first half of the climb. The gradient is fine to start with but steepens quite a bit once you get through Manigod before flattening out again a bit at the top. There are a few bars and cafes at the top. There is a short descent into La Clusaz where you can chose to head up to the Col des Aravais or take the road down to Thones or Grand Bornand
